Broadband Session Controller

Rebaca has developed a Session Controller solution for managing broadband connections for a large telecom service provider. This solution handles connections both over the local access network as well as the backbone (broadband) network. This component acts like the Session Resource Manager(SRM) as defined in the DSM-CC specification. It interfaces over DSM-CC U-N Session protocol with both customer premise equipments(CPEs) as well as third-party content providers.

Features Implemented

  • DSM-CC U-N Session library encompassing all the commonly used DSM-CC messages between client, SRM and server.

  • Interface with the Service Provider’s Element Management Systems(EMSs) to setup end-to-end sessions.

  • Interface with the network elements(NEs) of the access network to set up end-to-end connections between the customer and the backbone network.

  • Generate Transaction information and forward to the backend OSS for processing.

Tools & Technology

  • C++ on Digital Unix

  • DSM-CC U-N Config/Session protocol

  • RogueWave Tools.h++/DBTools.h++ used as support library

  • Oracle 7.x as database server

  • OCI library used for database access
