Content Servers and Management Systems

Content Server

Rebaca developed a solution for generating and distributing content from a central server using Bittorrent technology. The peer-to-peer nature of Bittorrent allows sharing of large files in a bandwidth-efficient manner.

Server
  • A Central Server hosts the content files in the form of Torrents
  • A J2EE-based web application enables operators to upload contents. This application converts the uploaded contents into torrents and automatically updates the Content List page with links to the contents
  • A Central Tracker coordinates all upload/download activity related to the content server

Client

  • Clients are entities that downloads hosted content and is composed of a Web Browser along with the basic Bittorrent client
  • Details about a content is made available on invoking the URL of the Content List page. Content can be viewed and possibly downloaded from the Server
  • On initiating a download request, the Bittorrent Client is invoked to download the content and then it acts as a seed for any subsequent download request for this specific content

Technologies

  • J2EE
  • Tomcat Web server
  • Spring Framework
  • Hibernate, an O/R mapping framework
  • MySql, a relational database
